Stop Homophobic Bullying
Manchester Liberal Democrats are proud to once again support this years Manchester Pride. City Centre Lib Dem Councillors Marc Ramsbottom and Elaine Boyes joined thousands of others on the annual lesbian and gay Pride parade, on top of the City Council's open top bus that wound its way through the city streets on Saturday.
Manchester Liberal Democrats also have a stall at this years Pride event. They are launched a petition calling for an end to homophobic bullying in schools.
Cllr Marc Ramsbottom said,"Homophobia and homophobic bullying are major problems for pupils, parents, staff. A recent report found almost two thirds (65 per cent) of young lesbian, gay and bisexual people experience homophobic bullying in school. Every school needs to treat this issue seriously, and should appoint a dedicated member of staff of be responsible for coordinating the school policy on homophobia"
