Labour's current resident parking scheme is woefully inadequate
City Centre Lib Dem Cllr Marc Ramsbottom has criticised Labour's Executive bosses for failing to provide a proper parking scheme for residents.
Speaking at the Council's meeting of the top level Executive he said, "The current scheme is woefully inadequate, and this shows in the fact that only 29 residents have taken up the parking permit scheme, out of nearly 19,000 residents now living in the city centre".
Labour's Environment boss claimed the scheme was a good one, and that parking demands by city centre residents would diminish over time.
Cllr Ramsbottom said that such suggestions were absurd, and said that the Council should adopt a scheme like other major cities that had dedicated bays for residents and operated 24 hours a day.
