The City Centre Result - May 2008
Cllr Marc Ramsbottom was re-elected as Liberal Democrat Councillor in the city centre. As predicted it was close fight between Labour and the Lib Dems, with the Conservatives still in third place. The Green vote went down for the third year running.
"I am delighted to have been re-elected" said Marc " and we will continue to campaign on the issues that matter most to city centre residents, and make sure that their views are heard in the Town Hall".
The Liberal Democrat share of the vote increased, from 32% to 38%, despite a last minute US style negative campaign by both the Tories and Labour.
The full result is:
Marc Ramsbottom - Liberal Democrat 568 (36%)
Labour 479 (30%)
Conservative 386 (24%)
Green 139 (9%)
