Labour aren't doing enough to keep our streets clean and are letting Manchester down
City Centre Lib Dem Councillors have called on the the Labour-run Council to do more to clean up the city centre. In just one afternoon several 'grot spots' were found and reported to the Town Hall.
These dirty Wheelie Bins were found in Exchange Square - supposed to be a premier public square.
They found litter strewn in parts of the Northern Quarter around the Church St car park as well as commercial refuse left outside insecure with rubbish falling on to the street. More worryingly, they found several dirty and unsightly domestic wheelie bins in Exchange Square - which is supposed to a premier public space!
Litter found outside Church Street car park.
Fly-posting and graffiti were also found in the Northern Quarter, and dead plants in out of place planters in the main civic square in front of the Town Hall.
Flyposting in the Northern Quarter seems to be getting worse.
Lib Dem City Centre Cllr Marc Ramsbottom said, "The examples we found of neglect and lack of care were embarrassing and more effort needs to be made to keep our city centre cleaner and tidier - after all we pay enough in Council Tax and at least deserve to have our area kept clean. The examples found just our city down."
