Cllr Marc Ramsbottom (left) with Cllr Damien O'Connor (right) and Moston Campaigner Tim Hartley are dismayed that Labour are turning their backs on people during hard times.
Manchester Liberal Democrats £50 Cash Back scheme was rejected by Labour councillors after their originally supported the scheme. Labour councillors first supported Lib Dem plans to give hard pressed Manchester residents a £50 Council Tax rebate.
Other local authorities have handed back similar amounts to Council Tax Payers, and Lib Dems argued that the Council should hand back £50 from the £90 million saved in reserves - but behind closed doors Labour did a 'U' Turn.
Cllr Marc Ramsbottom said, "At a time of real economic hardship, with many household budgets being stretched it is right the Council should hand back money if they don't need it. This £50 Cash Back scheme would help many families, and was affordable by the Council, instead they have chosen to hoard away more money in reserves".
