Local Liberal Democrat Campaigner Tim Hartley has backed local residents calls for New Moston to have its own village or community council. His campaign, which is receiving widespread support from local residents, has recently received a publicity from the North and East Manchester Advertiser.
Tim says he is in favour of local powers being given to residents in New Moston to form their own village council, but Labour councillors have already snubbed the idea.
"I think it's time we had more say over our area. Last year an independent survey was carried out across Manchester to see what levels of support there were for local communities to have their own councils with decision making and spending powers. The highest support came from north east Manchester", said Tim.
He has sent a personal letter to over 3,000 homes in New Moston to gather support for his campaign.
